As of today, the founder of the major cryptocurrency exchange Binance, CZ, has resigned from the CEO position. The former CEO will no longer hold any executive role at Binance.
In CZ's place, Richard Teng, former Global Head of Regional Markets, has been appointed as the new CEO. The newly appointed Binance CEO, Teng, made the following statement:
"Stepping into the role of Binance's new CEO is a great honor and profound humility for me. Operating the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange and the trust placed in us by our 150 million users and thousands of employees is a responsibility I take seriously. With the support of CZ and our leadership team, I assume this role to continue our mission of achieving financial freedom and meeting the expectations of stakeholders. Binance is stronger today at its core than ever before.
To ensure a bright future, I plan to guide our exceptional, innovative, and dedicated team using the lessons learned from my 30 years of experience in financial services and regulation. My focus will be on:
Providing assurance to users that they can trust in the company's financial strength, security, and safety. Collaborating with regulators to globally support high standards that encourage innovation while ensuring significant consumer protections. Working with partners to support the growth and adoption of Web3. "Please support me. We are excited for the days ahead!
It is an honour and with the deepest humility that I step into the role of Binance’s new CEO.
