In a recent interview with broadcaster and influencer Adin Ross, former President Donald Trump urged the current administration to avoid selling the U.S. Bitcoin assets.
Trump emphasized that if the U.S. does not innovate in the digital asset space, other countries will take the lead. He highlighted China's significant progress in the cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence sectors and praised the Bitcoin industry.
Trump described Bitcoin as a modern form of money and noted the presence of highly skilled and interested individuals in this field. He also linked his comments on Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence to the energy production that underpins both activities.
Fred Thiel, CEO of Marathon Digital Holdings, expressed his belief that the Bitcoin mining sector would advance under Trump's administration during the Bitcoin 2024 event in Nashville, Tennessee. Jason Les from Riot Platforms suggested that a potential Kamala Harris administration would likely not differ in its policies from President Joe Biden's administration.
Trump stated that the U.S. needs to make significant investments in energy infrastructure to support future industries. Analysts and industry representatives view investments in Bitcoin mining infrastructure and artificial intelligence data centers as crucial steps to strengthen the energy grid.
Trump also proposed using a small amount of Bitcoin to help pay off the U.S. government's $35 trillion national debt. He believes this asset has the potential to eliminate the debt entirely by gaining value against the inflation-affected U.S. dollar. This approach aims to gradually transform the nation's wealth into a new store of value, potentially preventing economic disasters from the devaluation of fiat currency.
